Hello Listers I am new to this list, I have concentrated my efforts on the London List so far. This is what I have. Name Age Where Born Administrative County Civil Parish Occupation Eliza Bainbridge 39 London Poplar Essex East Ham John Bainbridge 15 London Bow Common Essex East Ham John Bainbridge 49 Yorks Brisnal Essex East Ham Dock Laborer Margaret Bainbridge 8M Essex East Ham Essex East Ham William Bainbridge 4 Essex East Ham Essex East Ham This is out of the 1901 Census. Eliza was Eliza Eleanor Ross b: September Qtr 1861 in Mile End Old Town. It says that John Snr was born in Brisnal (I am told misspelt for Brignall) in Yorkshire, but haven't as yet been able to find anything. John Snr is my gggrandfather and John Jnr is my ggrandfather. Also I am looking for any information on a Edwin Armstrong Bainbridge he was 21 when he died on 10 June 1886 in the Mount Tarawera Eruption in New Zealand that destroyed the famous Pink and White Terraces. It said in the book that he was of a large and enterprising family. His Mother and Father had died when he was about 5yrs and that he and younger members of his family had been brought up by his grandfather. A brother Cuthbert, had been accidentally shot at the age of 21yrs and a sister May had died of disease. Edwin was from Newcastle on Tyne. I have always been told that he was related to us but have not as yet found a connection or any information on this family. Any help on these two families would be much appreciated. Regards Karen from Wellington NZ
David Thank you for this initiative. The scans are wonderful quality. I have just down loaded the Cheshire map which I think must be one you have added since I last visited your site. I discovered that the area where I lived as a child between Gatley and Ringway used to be known as Sunderland Green which is quite a coincidence as both sides of my family came from Sunderland Co Durham. Also learned that there is another Gatley only a few miles away. Sorry I am rabbiting on....thanks Ian Thompson Tel: +65 6586 9575 Fax: +65 6835 0629 Mob: +65 9040 3077
Hi, I am new to the list and I am researching my Dent family who I have traced back to the Barningham, Hope and Scargill area, formerly of Yorkshire but now in County Durham. I would love to here from anyone who is connected to them or as any information about the family. Also if anyone has access to the 1851,1861,1871 or 1891 census I would be very grateful if you could please do a lookup for me, for any Dent's in the area, because for some reason the Barningham returns are not held in Leeds library. I did find the following in the 1851 Census index for Barningham, Yorkshire Vol.66 [Cleatham,Winston with Newsham,Hutton Magna,Barningham,Scargill] Folio 228 John Dent 39 Hope Mary Dent 40 Brough Westmorland Isabella Dent 12 Scargill John Dent 8 Scargill Thomas 5 Scargill Jane Ann Dent 3 Scargill Christopher 5 months Scargill Folio 231 Hannah Dent 18 Hope Any other info would be greatly appreciated Thanks Mark Dent _________________________________________________________________ MSN Messenger - fast, easy and FREE! http://messenger.msn.co.uk

If anyone happens to be checking the 1841 census for Stockton at any time I would be grateful if they would kindly look out for Jane Hutchinson (not born Durham) and her husband William. Jane would have been about 37/38 at that time and they would probably have had children with them with the surname Robinson. I know the Stockton census will be large and therefore I am not asking anyone to do a special look-up. It is probable that they were living in Stockton itself, as I know in 1839 Jane was living in the Ramsgate area and Jane and Williams marriage took place in Stockton in 1840. Many thanks. Margaret
