    3. Hello Margaret, I live in the parish and will keep a look-out for the surname "Colling" when I am researching my own family! There are lots of churches and chaple's in this parish !!! which ones have you look at ? Have you got "Ann" on any census info ? (I'm sorry I havn't followed your messages) I visited "Tyne and Wear Archives", Blandford House, (part of the "Discovery Museum Newcastle") last year searching the "Harraton" records, The following "Methodist" registers are held there for baptisms and some marriages ! (pre 1800) Washington Old Road from 1883-1926 Washington Staithes 1870-1938 These are original copies bound in book form (most are very easy to read) There are also Paupers registers for this period (You might find something ) and school lists, some give names of pupils ! They also hold Church records for Baptisms, Banns, Marriages and Burials >>> Fatfield "St George" 1876-1978 Chester-le-street "St Mary and St Cuthbert" 1582-1987 Usworth "Holy Trinity" 1835-1978 Usworth Colliery "St Michael & All Angels" 1904-1959 Hope this might be of help to you Carole Robinson ----- Original Message ----- From: "margaret murdoch" <mgtmurdoch@clara.co.uk> To: <ENG-DURHAM-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, April 24, 2004 9:57 PM Subject: [ENG-DUR] ANN COLLING from HARRATON > Hi Geoff > > Many thanks for your suggestion to look at original parish registers for > ANN's birth.
