The answer to your question is probably "Tyne and Wear Archives" or, failing that, "Durham County Record Office". However, I wonder whether you realise the pitifully small amount of detail you are likely to find, even if you do manage to trace the Coroners' Records? If you are interested in an inquest, the best plan is to seek an account of it in a local newspaper.
