On the 1901 census an ancestors birth place is given as "Freehold" Durham Please can anyone tell me where this is! The person in question is living at "West Rainton" in 1881 with her parents and is one year of age, her father is a Coal miner, her place of birth is given as "Houghton le spring" This place of birth could be a clue to finding the place of marriage of her parents I have looked on Genuki without success !
