Dear Helen, Many thanks for all the information. I suspected it might have been TB since the patients came from such diverse places. Some were just called 'patient' with no name given is this usual? Regards Val.

Sometimes just their initials are given. I do not know if this is due to the Doctor in charge respecting patient confidentiality, or if it was an official instruction on how to fill out the census return. Regards, -- Helen Oram
