Andrew & Elizabeth's marriage certificate presents more questions than answers: Andrew WEATHERSTON, Post Messenger and Shoemaker of Norham, Berwick on Tweed, married **Elizabeth PALMER, Nurse, of Wooperton, Glendale, on 15 November 1864 at the United Presbyterian Church, Norham in the District of Berwick. Andrew's father was Robert WEATHERSTON, occup. Shoemaker; Elizabeth's father, ^^Stephen PALMER's occupation was given as"Engineer in Agricultural Implement factory". There is no indication if he was present at the marriage as he didn't sign the register. To regress a little - ^^Stephen PALMER was born in Portugal, son of Stephen PALMER, Colour Sergeant in the 48th Regiment of Foot and Maria DeSilva in about 1812 during the Peninular Wars. He was baptised in Burwell, Cambridgeshire 27 August 1815 along with his younger brother Henry. On the 1851 Census, ^^Stephen and his family are found in Ramsey, Hunts PRO Ref. Although not my direct PALMER line, I am intrigued by this family - what took a young woman [**Elizabeth PALMER] from Hunts. to Northumberland? and where was her father working at the time of her marriage? If anyone else on this list researching WEATHERSTON, I would love to hear from you. :) Regards, Ann McClean in Llanmerewig, Mid-Wales, U.K. palmer@ann-mcclean.mid-wales.net ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CAWTHORN, SCOTT, & DeSILVA PALMER Family History Pages: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~cawthorn/ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ALSO: List Owner PALMER-EAST-ANGLIA-UK-L@rootsweb.com For the discussion and sharing of information regarding the PALMER surname in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Huntingdonshire, South Lincolnshire, and the borders with Essex and Bedfordshire. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
