Many thanks for those who replied to my query on the asylum at Sedgefield. I am still typing away but have become very angry to find pages and pages of inmates reduced to initials. From a researchers point of view its disgusting; I realise that views on insanity and mental problems have changed but its so degrading to be reduced to letters just because of their condition.
