Derek Cuthbert Kevin & Derek: True, there seems to be no commercially-available transcript, but I have a photocopy of what looks like the first three pages of a longer list, which as far as I can remember - and I may be wrong - was possibly taken from one of the 600+ transcripts on open shelves in Durham Record Office. It actually begins with a bar code (!), above which is the code C2 683340 00 08. That means nothing to me but perhaps it does to someone. The title is "Memorial Inscriptions in Stanhope Churchyard" which, to me, indicates that it was compiled by someone not all that familiar with such things - an experienced MI recorder would have put "Monumental Inscriptions .....". In all, 34 stones are listed (No Raines etc: sorry, Kevin), which any brief glance at Stanhope churchyard would tell us would only be the beginning of any full listing. They all seem to come under a sub-heading "On plot on south side of Church, east of walk, commencing at the southern end".
