I have a death certificate that gives me a very descriptive cause of death, and mentions an inquest was held, but I've been informed that inquest records from Easingwold would be unobtainable. Does anyone know if this is in fact the case for a death in July of 1889, (he died in Bishopwearmouth hospital, in Sunderland)? And does anyone know how I could find a newspaper that might have had a record of the accident he was killed in? Mandy, Did you mean to say Easingwold or Easington Ward? Was the death in Bishopwearmouth as a result of an accident? I do have a book about Coroners Records and where to find them, but nothing is listed. You could try Durham Record Office email address: record.office@durham.gov.uk The accident and any inquest would be recorded in the local newspaper of the time. The death certificate would show the date of inquest. The Sunderland Echo would give details. The librarian at Sunderland City Library, Local Studies should be able to help. Email: Local.Studies@edcom.sunderland.gov.uk Good Luck! Heidi Talbot
