I am new to the list and researching my BENFOLD family from the Durham area. An article in The Times (Sat 10 Jan 1931) which stated that Jane Hannah BENFOLD had been charged with the murder of her husband Charles on Dec 5 1930 at Southmoor and whilst on remand had given birth to a still-born child whilst in Durham Prison. She had been arrested on New Year's Day, a few hours after the death of her mother. Would anyone know if there is a local newspaper that may have covered this story and if they have archives?
