Hi there, I used to subscribe to this list for a while, but have come back with more information and wondering if anyone can add to this for me. DORIS DAVIES was a 23 year old when she married on 9th January 1945 in Durham South Eastern district, County Durham. The marriage was witnessed by ELI DAVIES and LAURA DAVIES who were her parents (or at least Eli was her father). Eli was a coal miner. At the time she was a munition Factory Worker and lived at 16 West Chiltern, Chiltern Buildings Ferry Hill. She married PHILIP EDMOND FRANCIS KELLAND who was only in UK temporarily being in the Royal Navy (Leading Stoker) and originally from South Africa. According to immigration records, she returned with him to South Africa on board the HMS Nigeria in June 1950. What happened to her after that, I don't know! Either she died or he divorced her, however, I have no records of this divorce. He remarried in December 1952. Can anyone claim this Doris Davies? or know if she returned to England? This is a mystery I haven't yet solved and would dearly like to know what happened to my father-in-laws second wife!!!
