Most of my ancestors come from Yorkshire and Lincolnshire and I have recently discovered a Co Durham connection. I am interested in the name Gates late 1800's of Byers Green. My knowledge of Co Durham isnt that good and if anyone knows of this family or can point me in the right direction I would be very thankful. ======================================================================================== Hi Pete, I have a great deal of interest in Byers Green and have researched the area and my ancestors for a number of years. The GATES surname is not one that I am imediately familiar with, so a little more information might be helpful. My great great grandfather, Christopher TODD, who lived in Byers Green in the 1800's, started a notebook of mostly family news and information. The notebook also contains a long list of names of people from Byers Green. Do you have any other information or names? How did you discover the Byers Green connection? Regards... David Allan.
