Hi I wonder if anyone can help me I have a JAMES WESTGARTH D.O.B ABT 1854 born in Chelsea Middlesex On the 1861 and 1871 census he is in Northumberland with his parents. On the 1881 census he is on a vessel named BHUBILLY S S it says on the census that he is married but I cannot find any record of his marriage or who he married if anyone could help me with any information I would be very grateful. Also no record of him on the 1891 or 1901 census again any help would be very useful. Thank you Jan
There is the marriage of a James WESTGARTH in Newcastle in the September Quarter of 1877 to Janet McDougall. The marriage took place at Jesmond Clayton Memorial. However there seem to be 2 James Westgarth's of the same age [possibly the same person enumerated twice???] - one on board the Blue Billy vessel out of Berwick and the other at home with his wife and child. If you know his parents, then the marriage certificate will confirm the name and occupation of his father. Hope this helps Heather "Blue Billy" Berwick Upon Tweed, Northumberland, England RG11 Piece 5131 Folio 132 Page 2 Edward Waldick WHITEHEAD M 38 M Cambridge, England Master Mariner John GRANT M 49 M North Shields Mate James WESTGARTH M 27 M London Chelsie, London, Middlesex, England Engien Driver Thomas ROBSON U 18 M New Castle Fireman 1881 CENSUS 45 Cook Street Byker, Northumberland, England RG11 Piece 5067 Folio 76 Page 6 James WESTGARTH M 27 M Chelsea Head Engineer At Works Arlizn Janet WESTGARTH M 27 F Newcastle On Tyne Byker Wife Agnes WESTGARTH 8 m F Newcastle On Tyne Byker Daur In 1891 I didn't find James, although Janet says she is married and is living in Suffolk, 1891 CENSUS RG 12 piece 1490 folio 61 page 7 all born Newcastle upon Tyne 10 Severn Terrace, Carlton Coleville, North Suffolk Janet Westgarth head mar 37 Agnes M Westgarth dau 10 scholar Alexander M Westgarth son 8 scholar Sarah M Westgarth dau 2 In 1901 Agnes aged 20 is a servant in Suffolk for a Jickling family RG 13 piece 1802 folio 104 page 21 1901CENSUS RG 13 piece 1801 folio 104 page 39 sch 253 Worcester Ter Carlton Coleville Suffolk James Westgarth 47 head mar mariner on the Seas b London Janet Westgarth 46 wife mar b Newcastle Alexander Westgarth 15 fitters apprentice b Newcastle Sarah Westgarth 12 b Newcastle Janet Westgarth 9 b Newcastle Jane Westgarth 6 b Newcastle Mary Westgarth 3 b Carlton Coleville Janet Hasler wrote: > Hi > I wonder if anyone can help me I have a > JAMES WESTGARTH > D.O.B ABT 1854 born in Chelsea Middlesex > On the 1861 and 1871 census he is in Northumberland with his parents. > On the 1881 census he is on a vessel named > BHUBILLY S S it says on the census that he is married but I cannot find any record of his marriage or who he married if anyone could help me with any information I would be very grateful. > Also no record of him on the 1891 or 1901 census again any help would be very useful. >
