Hi there, My name is Kevin Culp I currently reside in Amherst, New York. I have been doing research on the TODD heritage that immigrated to Canada. I am struggling to find any information on a William George Todd that appears to be accurate. Each source conflicts the other. Two sources suggest he either was born in County Somerset or County Durham. Many sources suggest his parents were Joseph/Emma Todd. He appears to be born around the 1862 to 1870 time frame. It is unclear if he emigrated from England to the US or from England to Canada initially. ________________________________________________________________________ ____ #13809/91 (York Co.) Hunter Addendum Source: I am assuming that he was actually born in England, and not in the US, as per their marriage registration which was likely incorrect. It would seem to me that they were eloping as she was pregnant at the time of the marriage, and they didn't give all the details to the minister who might have assumed they were both born in the US, since they had come from Detroit to Toronto to be married. The family identified by Bill Hartley in the 1880 US Census cannot be the correct one given that in the 1900 US Census, Margarette, b. May 1872, aged 28, single, is still living with the family. I also found the marriage of one of the sons, James Robert Todd, who married Annie Freda Marker in 1920. In that timeframe, they asked the birthplace of the fathers of both the groom and bride. James Robert gives the birthplace of his father as Bath, England.
