    1. [ENG-DURHAM] Help with occupation on 1841 in Whickham Dunstan. STEWART

    3. Hi list, please can someone have a look at the 1841 in Middle Row, Whickham Dunstan,at the occupation of James Stewart aged 25? It looks like the twirly letter I and I have no idea what it could mean. Also, does anyone think that the answer to "whether born in county" is a no? as on subsequent censuses, James says he was born Durham,Gateshead, and there is a James Stewart on the IGI born 1817,bapt 1818 in Gateshead, parents William & Jane, and I have also found a marriage in Durham & Gateshead marriages transcription for a William Stewart & Jane Simpson, 1815 which would fit in with this birth. This one on the 1841 is the only James Stewart I can find, and I have no trace of his parents on the 1841 at all. Many thanks for any thoughts

    3. The occupation is living by Independent Means (Capital I. ) and he was not Born in the County.
