I am interested in finding a James and Ann Walburn who had an issue of Louise: While there may be a few omissions, my database of Co Durham marriages for that period is effectively complete. Unfortunately it does not contain any marriage for a James Walburn (etc) and an Ann. That makes me wonder whether perhaps they came from, and were married in, the North Riding of Yorkshire. After all, that was just over the Tees from Stockton, and must have comprised about 50% of the catchment area for people newly arriving in the town. As a very long shot, why not have a look at the Durham (Diocesan) Marriage Bonds? There is about a 10% chance that they married by Licence. See (ie Google for) Paul Joiner's marriage index (a commercial pay-per-view site, but it may be useful in gettIng you "unstuck"! It covers much of Co Durham and North Yorkshire. Geoff Nicholson
