Hello All I wonder if someone can help in breaking down a brickwall. I am looking for the Birth/Baptism of John Robson son born 1838/40 of John Robson a Joiner by trade. John Robson married Eleanor Ann Hall in Sunderland 15th Jan 1860 he gave his age as 22 and Fathers Name & Profession was John Robson a Joiner. On the 1861 Census details as follows John Robson age 23 Seaman in Merchant Service born Bishopwearmouth Eleanor wife age 27 Born Sunderland Douglas son age 4 monrhs born Bishopwearmouth. I Have checked the Sunderland Registrations and the only one I found Registered was a John Robson born April 1838 but his father was John Robson a Bottlemaker which is a Trade in itself. What complicates things id that My John Robson died in May 1865 as a Result of an Accident on the Hartlepool to Sunderland Railway he was on his way to to the training ship in Sunderland when the Accident occured. His age at Death was given as 26, however the parish Records said he was 25, this makes me think John lied about his age when he married and may have been born as late as 1840, the family were living in Hartlepool when John died, by 1865 he had a further 2 children Eleanor Jane born 1963 died 1872 in Sunderland Thomas Foster born April 1865 died 1874 in Sunderland, This child was renamed John a month after his father had died. Unless I can find a Birth Reg or Baptism for John I cant find out who is mother is, I have checked all the Durham and Northumberland John Robson Registrations born Sept 1837 to Dec 1841 and he is not there, also no sign of a Baptism in Sunderland or Surrounding area's. May be someone can help on this, I know John Robson is a common name in the North East but I cant believe there is no evidence of him. Regards Allan Robson
