Someone may correct me on this - but I believe that there is a part of Gateshead which was missed or got lost from the 1851 Census. I beieve this part is in the area near East Street. Also a piece of Scotswood got lost in 1861. Both could contain some of my direct ancestors. Heather you are probably correct, a number of years ago I was suspicious of the same for 1861 in the Durham and Auckland Districts and on checking each Enumeration District found that Durham has over 1,000 names missing and Auckland over 900 as a result of pages not included on the films. I suspect that these missing pages have survived at the PRO but for various reasons were not filmed.
