    3. Hi listers, I am desperately seeking some guidance regarding a 'black hole' that seems to be devouring parts of my family, all seemingly centred on Bishop Aukland. In 1902 Frederick William GRANT (aka William GRANT, b.1875) married Matilda WYLD in Bombay India. Her father was William WYLD, a Miner. I have more or less whittled her origins down to being born in Durham circa 1879-1881, although WILLD is how the surname was enumerated in Black Boy, 1881. Frederick's regiment departed India in October 1903, but by then there was Frederick Jnr., born in that same year. None appear on the 1911 census and no deaths or service histories appear to concur with their details. Frederick had a sister, Annie Flora GRANT (aka Florrie GRANT b1881) who married Frederick William CHAPMAN in 1903. He was purportedly connected to the clergy and was known to have moved to South Church, Bishop Aukland and lived there until at least the 1950's. Nothing further is known as to what happened to either of these branches of the family, except Florrie died in Leytonstone in the 1970's. Any help or knowledge about any of them would be most appreciated, Regards Andy
