    3. Janet, have you tried this site. I've found quite a lot of my Gateshead family listed.   http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/NBL/DeathNotices/     Daphne --- On Wed, 22/4/09, Janet Hopkins <janetchopkins@hotmail.com> wrote: From: Janet Hopkins <janetchopkins@hotmail.com> Subject: [ENG-DURHAM] (no subject) To: "Durham List" <eng-durham-l@rootsweb.com> Date: Wednesday, 22 April, 2009, 10:04 PM Hi Listers, Would anyone know if there are any online newspaper archives for Gateshead and Newcastle, where I might obtain death notices or obituaries? 3. Dear Daphne, I read your email below and took your advice. I hope Janet has the same luck as me. MY PERSONAL BRICK WALL JUST FELL DOWN COMPLETELY AFTER YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS OF SEARCHING. My gr-uncle was listed as having died in South Africa in 1895 aged 19. I am truly shaken to think such a handsome dude died in the Boer War I admit. I only realised that he may have been dead after the 1911 Census came out. Cheers and thank you immensely, Kerry from Brisbane. ----- Original Message ----- From: "DAPHNE HUGHES" <daphneandphil@btinternet.com> To: <eng-durham-l@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, April 23, 2009 5:51 PM Subject: [ENG-DURHAM] Newspaper Obituaries Janet, have you tried this site. 3. Hi Kerry The first Boer War was 1880 - 1881 and the second was 1899 - 1902 So if he died in 1895 it was not as a result of the Wars (thats not to say there was constant peace in-between but you need to look further for the cause) Best wishes Nivard Ovington, in Cornwall (UK) > Dear Daphne, > > I read your email below and took your advice.
