Barbara & Nicole, You say " We have been given" and " we have her parents as". But do you have official records to support this conclusion ? On the FreeBMD site I can see the birth-registration of a Lilian Dawson, within the December Quarter of 1907 at Middlesbrough ( in County of Yorkshire, at the time) So she was registered from 1st Oct to 31 Dec. "Your" Lilian was born earlier on 3 Aug. Parents were allowed 42 days grace in which to register their child. If that birth matches that registration, then the parents took at least 60 days to register the child ? The same site (with the help of another site) shows the registration of a marriage between Edward Dawson and Elizabeth McLaughlan in the June Qtr ( 1st April to 30th June) 1905 within the Easington District within County Durham. This marriage in a different county, but not too far away from Middlesbrough area (20-30 miles). Or alternatively do you have info on another marriage of an Edward and Elizabeth ? Buying a certified copy of the full info from the birth registration provides the name of father and occupation, and mother's name and maiden name ! Michael
