    3. I have an interest in the surname TAYLOR and the surnames WINDALE & vars., KITCHEN / vars. & ALDERSON that I have associated with Taylor. Beginning in Darlington St. Cuthberts parish with Alphonso Taylor a hinge maker who married Dorothy ALDERSON at St. Cuthberts church 1775. Dorothy Alderson was the daughter of John Alderson and was baptised at St. Cuthberts in 1755. I believe John Alderson, occ Weaver, had married Elizabeth KITCHEN at the same church in June 1753 and that they were Dorothy's parents. Alphonso Taylor and wife Dorothy had two children baptised at the same church that I know of, Elizabeth in June 1776 and John in January 1778 Alphonso was buried at St. Cuthberts in March 1778 his wife Dorothy lived on as his widow until 1793. Son John TAYLOR a weaver married Mary WINDALE at St. Cuthberts in Jan. 1804 and they had children Anne 1804, Dorothy 1805, Mary 1807, John Alderson 1809 bur.as an infant, John Windale 1811, Michael 1813. Mary Windale was baptised at St. Cuthbert's Darlington in 1784 dau. of Michael Windale. John Taylor died in 1826. Daughter Anne married George Smith of Sedgefield, a Joiner, and after living Darlington for a couple of years they moved on to Hartlepool. John Taylor's widow Mary by the time of the 1841 census is also in Hartlepool living in the house of her son Michael age 25 a shoemaker, with them is Mary's son John aged 30 a builder and a 5yr old John Smith who I assume is a grandson of Mary Taylor. John and Mary's other daughter Dorothy married Whitfield Smith of Sedgefield, brother of George Smith, and they moved to the Manchester area. I am in touch with a descendant of Whitfield and Dorothy. In both the 1851 & 1861 censuses Mary Taylor and her son John were staying in Cheetham Manchester with Whitfield Smith and his wife Dorothy. Whitfield & his brother George SMITH were both born in Sedgefield as sons of Samuel Smith and his wife Rebecca WHITFIELD. Rebecca was born in Stockton dau. of George Whitfield and his wife Mary TAYLORSON. Mary died soon after Rebecca's birth and George and Rebecca appear to have moved to Sedgefield where Rebecca married Samuel Smith and bore him several Children. Samuel Smith was the son of Timothy SMITH and his wife Magdalen TURBETT. Timothy Smith was bapt. at St. Margaret Durham City in 1738 son of Samuel Smith and his wife Deborah PARKIN who had married at the same church. Magdalen Turbett was born Trimdon dau. of John Turbett and I believe his wife was Ann Todd, I wrote about the Todd & Turbett families in an earlier mail of today. Does anyone else share any of these names in these areas? Regards Jenny DeAngelis Spain.
