However, it was not in Stockton. Nor was it anywhere in Co Durham adjacent to Stockton (there are possibilities but they are all in northern or central Co Durham). I would therefore expect her to have died in that part of north Yorkshire rougly adjacent to Stockton and separated from it only by the River Tees ("South Stockton"). It could well be that the other events you could not find in Stockton took there also. Unfortunately that was in the North Riding of Yorkshire and so is off-topic for this list. One other little point you may have missed - you say that he is recorded as aged 45 in the 1841 census and so was born c1796. In 1841 a census age of 45 means a real age of 45-49 and so a birth 1791-1796, so do be sure not to ignore any birth that fits into that period - or, if there is any chance that the census age is completely incorrect, and there always is, even outside that range! Hi Geoff , Robert Allens first wife Elizabeth has to have died before 1832 as he remarried in January 1832 to his second wife Jane .He remarried in Stockton , Durham .I was presuming she died in Stockton only because she had two children in Stockton and at a later date Robert her husband remarried in Stockton .My presumption on where she died may be wrong . Roberts date of birth is c 1796 as i said as i know census are out by 5 years sometimes more .However the census does have him born within county Durham - could this mean that in 1841 he could be south Stockton ( Yorkshire )? sue
