My Fathers family came from Cheshire, my Mothers from Durham, my Father and Mother were married in Scotland, my paternal grandfather was Norwegian [hence the Olsen], and during 25 years service in the Army I married a Scot, my son was born in Germany and my daughter in Hong Kong. As nice as it may be to some we are not all able to have a nice little geographical I know the situation. My gt-gt-gt-grandfather came to Co.Durham from Lancashire (where his family had previously lived for generations) around the time of the Battle of Waterloo. His grandson (an officer in the Salvation Army) got married in Norwich to a lady from London whose parents came from Suffolk. Their first two c hildren (one of them my grandmother) were born in Plymouth, and subsequent ones in South Africa and Australia. He finally came home and died in London. Another gt-grandfather was a travelling salesman, so you can just imagine what fun it is tracing his kids, whose birthplaces are scattered from one end of the country to another. Oh well, life's rich tapestry. Cheers -- Mike Stone - Peterborough, England. For the strength of the hills we bless thee, Our God, our fathers' God. Thou hast made they children mighty, By the touch of the mountain sod. Thou hast led Thy chosen Israel To freedom's last abode. For the strength of the hills we bless thee, Our God, our fathers' God.
