    1. [ENG-DURHAM] Census Look Up
    2. Peter Fellowes
    3. Greetings to all, I know it is out of our area but it is directly connected with my family. If any kind soul who has access to the 1911 Census who would be kind enough to do a look up for me. I would like to know who was living at: 6 Horatio Street, Birkenhead, Cheshire. I am hoping it should be either FELLOWES or OLSEN. Olsen would be the married name and Fellowes would be the maiden name. It is the wife I am interested in, Florence Elizabeth Fellowes or Olsen, [or any variation] she was born 4 Dec 1886 and would have been 25 in 1911 [give or take six months either way]. She was my Paternal Grandmother. Fellowes may be spelt without the second 'E' [Fellows]. If it is Florence I would also like to know where she was born and any occupation given. I am with Ancestry UK and they do not yet have the 1911 Census. Best Regards to all. Peter Fellowes

    3. Peter, Hi The 1911 Census is free to view - both images and transcriptions - at The National Archives in Kew, and 20p to print a copy of either..... We're home later this week and on grand parent duties in Winchmore Hill next week, when we hope to escape for a few hours to TNA on Tuesday, while the little terrors are at school and nursery. I'll have a look for you then and contact you afterwards...... 3. Peter, Hi again I've done a bit of searching of the 1911 Census index online.... Bear in mind that there may be more than one 6 Horatio Street in the Birkenhead area, but there appears to be seven residents - Mary Bayley, aged 47 Emma Bayley, aged 21 Florence Bayley, aged 19 Elizabeth Bayley aged 17 Alfred Bayley, aged 10 Beatie Bayley, aged ? months James Burgin, aged 21 Searching elsewhere, there are no Florence Fellowe's, Elizabeth Olsen's or Florence Olsen's (b1883-1889) living in Birkenhead, but two Elizabeth Fellowe's (one 1886, another 1888)..... but obviously no more until I can see the images next week..... 3. Greetings to all, Very many thanks to all who took time to reply. My apology to all as I did not understand that the 1911 Census was [or still is] pre payment per view, I was given information, wrong as it turns out, that the 1911 Census had been released [or parts of it] to some 'Family Membership' sites. This then proves that not all we are told, or at least led to believe is true. I did not as Jane may seem to think expect anyone to pay per view credit for information for me as I had been led to believe some members may have free access to it. I am sorry also that it may appear that Jane seems [or gives the impression] that a connection between Durham and Cheshire may be a little incredible. My Fathers family came from Cheshire, my Mothers from Durham, my Father and Mother were married in Scotland, my paternal grandfather was Norwegian [hence the Olsen], and during 25 years service in the Army I married a Scot, my son was born in Germany and my daughter in Hong Kong. As nice as it may be to some we are not all able to have a nice little geographical boundary that families live within. Very grateful thanks to Geoff. Certainly the 1901 Census in District 23 Birkenhead shows there to be only one Horatio Street in Birkenhead. So the very kind information you have found seems shows it still a little early for the family to be living there, but that is the address shown on my fathers birth certificate for 15 Oct 1912. Again my very sincere thanks to all and apologies for any embarrassment caused.
