Hello Mel I am interested in an Arthur BOWMAN - born in about 1832. Married in Feb 1860 in Gateshead to Sarah VINTON He was aged 28 occupation labourer father Henry BOWMAN farmer. By the time of the 1861 census Sarah is in the workhouse in Gateshead with a young child, Ann. RG 3801 99 3 22/23 I have been unable to find any trace of Arthur BOWMAN, birth or death or census. In Mar 1870 Sarah, a widow, remarried to a widower Joseph HARDY [and later became my great grandmother]. Joseph's father was David HARDY, a hairdresser. I'd be interested in exchanging notes with anyone researching these name in order to sort out this family. My two questions are what happened to Arthur BOWMAN and who was Joseph's first wife.
