Hello -- I think I may have posted this several years ago, but thought I¹d re-post in case anyone out there has connections... Patrick O¹Grady (b. Ireland (Possibly Co. Kerry) about 1820 m. Elizabeth (Unknown) b. abt. 1821. They moved from Ireland to Durham CO. sometime after 1849. Patrick (and later, his sons) worked in the coal mines. Known children: Mary O¹Grady b. 1844 (Ireland) Michael Joseph O¹Grady b. 9/29/1849 Co. Kerry, d. 9/20/1924, McDonald, PA, USA Thomas O¹Grady b. abt 1851 Martin O¹Grady b. abt 1855 John O¹Grady b. abt. 1859 Patrick O¹Grady b. abt. 1861 An Elizabeth O¹Grady Cudahy of Chicago, Ill, USA, is listed as a sister in Michael¹s obituary, but I¹m not certain if she and Mary are the same person, or if there was another child born after 1861. According to 1861 England/Wales census, Patrick, Elizabeth, Mary, Michael, Thomas, James, Martin, John and Patrick -- along with Andrew Brady and Patrick Murray, both 25 -- resided Conside & Knitsley, Durham, England. Sometime before 1870, Patrick and Elizabeth emigrated from England to Pennsylvania, USA. Only Thomas, Martin, and John are listed in US census in 1870, so I¹m uncertain whether Patrick remained in England or died before the census. Mary may have remained in Durham. Michael Joseph O¹Grady m. Margaret McClusky, daughter of Patrick and (possibly) Ellen (Mc)Clusky. Michael and Margaret were married in Bishop Auckland. They emigrated to the US around 1869 with their young daughter, Maria Ann (Mary). Michael and Margaret had 14 children. I have no information about the Clusky/McClusky family, other than the info that Margaret was born in Ireland and moved to Durham with her family. There is some indication they lived in Thornley, (family verbal history) and ³Berry Edge.² Michael also worked in the mines, as did Patrick McClusky. My grandmother said that her grandparents (Michael and Margaret) sometimes returned to England to visit family. I would love to pick up the thread connecting through descendents of the family that remained in England. Debbie Moors
