Some registers do not survive while others are still in the care of local ministers. For each circuit or church there is detailed information on the availability of registers and indexes. 3. Thanks Helen. I have now contacted Hartlepool Library, who were really helpful, and are willing to do a look-up in the Hartlepool newspaper of 1910. They asked for details in writing. Many thanks to everyone on the list who responded. Roger Quick From: Helen Oram Subject: Re: [ENG-DUR] Hartlepool Newspaper 1910? 1. Primitive Methodists - Stanhope area 1800's
    2. Hi, I have several query's that I hope someone will be kind enough to help me with : Would a member of a Primitive Methodist congregation have kept a shop selling alcohol? (I thought they were Baptists / Weslyans.) I find that the Primitive Methodist churches seldom had graveyards of their own and folk were buried in nearby graveyards belonging to other denominations. If that is the case, were their burials recorded and by whom? I would greatly appreciate any help, Regards Val Speed

    3. I would be very grateful if anyone could tell me how I can access a Hartlepool newspaper from 1910. Isabella Young aged 6 was killed in a motor-car accident on 2.9.1910 near Cameron Hospital, West Hartlepool. One of her family, now very elderly, is anxious to know something more of the circumstances of the little girl's death, and a report of the accident or an obituary would really help. Many thanks. 1. MUSGRAVE
    2. Ruth Appleby
    3. Hi All For longer than I care to remember, I have been trying to find the baptism or origins of Ralph MUSGRAVE, born c.1695. He first appears in Bishopton DUR, when he marries Rebecca AUDERSON in 1716. He is termed "of Elstob"at the time of the birth of their first child in October of the same year, but the baptism takes place in Great Stainton. By 1723 the family is in Aycliffe, but when he dies in 1758 Ralph is buried back in Bishopton. I know there are MUSGRAVEs recorded in North Yorkshire, but there is no sign of him on FamilySearch. Anyone got a Ralph M going spare? Ruth Appleby Basse Normandie, France La.Retraite@tiscali.fr

    3. Many thanks to everyone who responded to my query. Especially to Helen and Anne who both came up with the same thought. I checked it out with mum-in-law and she has confirmed that HERRON is another surname, she just wasn't too sure whereabouts or when they figured. As she says she wasn't too bothered about her own roots when young so didnt't pay too much attention with surnames. I would never had thought of checking out another surname. I can see how due to handwriting styles names can be confused and transcribed incorrectly. I also learned a few other possiblities which I will bear in mind as a progress with my research just in case. Kindest regards Ruby Mole Essex UK --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Dau. 11 bn Nbl Isabella A. dau. 6 bn So.Shields, Dur. ^^Stephen PALMER, Father In Law W 67 Millwright [BS], Spain After a bit of detective work on 1837Online, I found that the surname was in fact, WEATHERSTON. Andrew & Elizabeth's marriage certificate presents more questions than answers: Andrew WEATHERSTON, Post Messenger and Shoemaker of Norham, Berwick on Tweed, married **Elizabeth PALMER, Nurse, of Wooperton, Glendale, on 15 November 1864 at the United Presbyterian Church, Norham in the District of Berwick. Andrew's father was Robert WEATHERSTON, occup. Shoemaker; Elizabeth's father, ^^Stephen PALMER's occupation was given as"Engineer in Agricultural Implement factory". There is no indication if he was present at the marriage as he didn't sign the register. To regress a little - ^^Stephen PALMER was born in Portugal, son of Stephen PALMER, Colour Sergeant in the 48th Regiment of Foot and Maria DeSilva in about 1812 during the Peninular Wars. He was baptised in Burwell, Cambridgeshire 27 August 1815 along with his younger brother Henry. On the 1851 Census, ^^Stephen and his family are found in Ramsey, Hunts PRO Ref. Although not my direct PALMER line, I am intrigued by this family - what took a young woman [**Elizabeth PALMER] from Hunts. to Northumberland? and where was her father working at the time of her marriage?
