Just introducing myself to the list and registering my interests. I am researching SMITH, STEPHENSON, COLLING, THOMPSON and THWAITES in Sunderland (mainly Monkwearmouth area). If anyone has access to the 1851 census for Monkwearmouth, I would be most grateful if they would look-up the entry for John THOMPSON (house builder) and his wife Isabella (nee HAMILTON). They should have children, Mary, Margaret, Jane, John and maybe Phyllis. Margaret Murdoch, in Cumbria.
Margaret I noticed your SMITH interest - my GGG father, Joseph Michael SMITH, was born in Sunderland c1811, and had nine children, all born in Sunderland - William (c1853), Ann (1854), Thomas, Joseph Michael (c1859), Richard Dickinson (c1864), Albert (c1868), Grant Francis Octonary (1877 - the eighth child!), Gladstone Joseph (c1880). Any possible connection?
