    3. My 3rd great grandmother was Elizabeth COATES. When she married my 3rd great grandfather, George DAVISON, on 15 Oct 1845 she was residing at 21, Vine Street, Sunderland. Elizabeth gives her father's name as John COATES, Mariner. >From their entry in the 1851 Bishopwearmouth census Elizabeth was aged 28 years with her place of birth given as Sunderland. Her birth year calculates to be approximately 1823. I have been unable to find them in 1861 census CD from Archive CD Books and in 1881 George and Elizabeth are listed as living at 11, Cliff Terrace with their widowed daughter Elizabeth SCOTT and their three SCOTT grandchildren The only Elizabeth COATES I can find so far is from the IGI and was baptized in Sunderland 22 Sep 1822 to John COATES and Mary Ann HARDY. The other I have found is one baptized in Auckland 3 Dec 1823 to John COATES and Elizabeth. Knowing both areas somewhat I would say the Elizabeth in 1822 is mine but obviously before I can say 100% that she is I need to do further investigations. As she was already married by 1851 then obviously she would not be listed in the 1851 census with her parents. A lookup was done in the 1851 census for a John COATES, Mariner in Sunderland but nothing was found. Any help with this line would be very much appreciated.
