Could anyone tell me the approx location of Castle Street in Bishopwearmouth. The Marriage Certificate (dated Dec 7 1850) of my GGGrandparents in the Parish Church (St. Michaels?) shows they resided in Castle Street. George Smale aged 21 married Ellen Pevlar (this could be Peveler) also 21. His father is shown as Adam Smale -a timber merchant and Ellen's as John - a Fireman. I have not been able to find any records of Adam Or John - this may be due to a phonetic spelling of the surname by the Curate. I would appreciate any help on the location of Castle Street or ideas on finding Adam and John. Western Canada is a bit to far from Sunderland- although I must admit to having undying support for the Red and Whites. (when and how did they become the Black Cats?) Keith Errington
