Hi All If i remember right a tramcar was caught in the blast when a bomb or mine landed at the cross over between Tatham St and Commercial Road the same incident destroyed my old school Valley Road and for the next year or two we where passed from one house or meeting hall eventually ending up at Herington St Methodist Church, these incidents tend to stick in your memory, like our last teacher Mr Brewer a ex first war veteran who certainly new how to use his swagger stick. I would like to ask if anybody can put me onto a site that has pictures and write ups of damage caused by the bombing in Sunderland and details of the HE118 shot down that crashed into the wet fishshop, and was it true the couple who lived there where still asleep in bed.
