A search for Albert Bristow brings up none in the Sunderland Area, so the name is probably wrongly transcribed. You can do a wild card search yourself at https://www.census.pro.gov.uk/ If you have an idea of his age it will help as you can specify an age in 1901 +/- 5 years. There is a birth Albert Bristow registered in the December 1/4 1881 in Middlesbrough on http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/ You could search for your grandmother and see if she is listed, and if it was in Middlesbrough as well that could be him, if so he would be 20 in 1901 and 37 in 1918.
