Hi Helen, Thanks for the quick reply. The info is excellent. I've already found the 14yo son John and his family in the 1881 census, living in James Armitage Street. There is a definite connection with that street & Carley Road as they both keep popping up. It's also interesting that John Lamb is shown as Son in Law & unmarried! As for the son George, they did have one with that name and the year & place of birth and occupation are the same. He was married to a woman named Mary but the info I have suggests that she was born in Shields (presumably S. Shields) and was three years younger than him (Freebmd: Marriage Sunderland Dist Dec Qtr 1858 & 1881 Census: RG11 5003/81 91). However, if the daughter, Elizabeth A. was born in 1856 then that marriage registration may not be the same one. I'll have to do some more checking. I look forward to your next instalment. Douglas
