Hello All. Thanks to yet more fantastic help from one of the list i now know that this hotel was closed and reported to the Compensation Authority during WW2. Anybody able to supply further details of this incident? Would this have been a results of damage sustained during bombing of Sunderland? My interest is due to this hotel being run by John Swain ,at least in 1857/58 ,according to an advert placed in Wards directory of the time. I don't know how lng he lasted there as i have members of his family elsewhere later on. One of particular interest to me is Brady Swain. Colin Notman
