Hello members! The marriage certificate of my grand parents in 1887 give the address of #3 Dock Street Monkwearmouth for George Andrew ROSS and 12 Bedes Terrace Sunderland for his wife Amy Frances HADLEY I looked at the web sight for street addresses but have not located either address. Can anyone tell me the area these two addresses might have been? Also does anyone have access to the 1871 census which should show an George Andrew ROSS age 4, son of Alexander James, and Anne ROSS. Thank you for your assistance. Bev Froom
Hi Bev Dock street was two streets away from Roker Avenue (once known as Broad Street ) heading toward the river It went from Brandling Street south and went up to Church Street All that remains today of Dock Street is a pub called the Albion Cannot recall a Bede Terrace Regards George
Hi Bev, strangely enough I checked my spreadsheet for the 1871 census and I had the entry you were interested in. I had noted all the ROSS entries when I went through the 1871 a few years ago. The family were living at 18 North Quay East, Monkwearmouth Ecclesiastical District: St Peters Piece RG10/5025 Unfortunately this search was undertaken in the early days of my research, so I don't have the folio and page number details. Name, Relationship to Head, Married or single, age, occupation, place of birth Alexander ROSS Head Mar 34 Engine Driver Scotland Anne ROSS Wife Mar 31 monkwearmouth Alexander (James) ROSS Son 6 Sunderland George Andrew ROSS Son 4 monkwearmouth Thomas ROSS Son 1 Sunderland Matthew Liddle ROSS monkwearmouth (don't have his age for some reason) I still have a feeling our ROSS interests may end up linked somewhere along the line. bfn Diane R Sunderland UK Don & Bev Froom <okfrooms@shaw.ca> wrote: Hello members!
