Hi David, Not to add too much to your confusion, but I have in my history a Tom Rowntree who was the carpenter of a ship captained by my gg grandfather, B.R. Wilson. The ship was the Cubana out of Sunderland carrying copper ore from Cuba to Swansea. The ship was featured in several newspaper articles and I also have a copy of a letter written in 1884 by Tom to BRW after they had retired.
