I believe that Thomas USHER born 1850 (one of my ancestors) may be the same Thomas USHER of REAY & USHER, according to CHRISTIE's Directory 1871/2, Thomas resided at Ford Villa, South Hylton and was an Ironmaster in WARD'S Directory of 1877 Thomas resided at Hylton Forge and he is listed under REAY & USHER Iron Manufacturers. According to the Return of Owners of Land 1873, Thomas USHER of South Hylton, owned 2 acres with an estimated Rental of £165 15s. If someone could point me in the right direction I would be very grateful. Heidi
