Hello, everyone -- I'm looking for the birth or baptism record of one Jane Dagg, born in 1827. Per her marriage record, she was the daughter of George Dagg; per a Monkwearmouth marriage record, her mother may have been called Jane Tate. In later records, Jane Dagg gave her place of birth as Sunderland, Tunstall, and Tunstall Hill. It seems the best move would be to write to the Durham County Record Office and ask them to look through the parish register of Holy Trinity, Sunderland. If she was from Tunstall Hill, would this be the best parish to try, or should I try another? Her marriage in 1851 is in the GRO records, so it seems likely she'd be Church of England. I wonder if some of you might be able to tell me more about the area -- how large it is, where it is exactly, what it's like. I see there's a Tunstall Road in the southwestern part of the city center, and there seems to be a Tunstall-ish area bounded on the northeast by Queen Alexandra Road, northwest by Tunstall Road, southwest by Leechmeere, and southeast by Helvellyn Road. Is this the right region? Also, what might be my chances of finding Jane in Sunderland in the 1841 census? Many thanks in advance for your wisdom! Patrick S. Philadelphia, Pa., USA
