It dated from the early part of the 19th. century, and in 1955 the derelict building was demolished to make way for the new housing estate. Apparently it was celebrated for the cultivation of strawberries, the landlord in 1856, a Robert Fair was a gardener and seedsman. <there used to be an old derelict house in the valley that we called the haunted house> Would this be Elstob House?
