As a pupil at Barnes School in the 1930's, I remember an ex-pupil from Argyle House joining us, wearing the green and yellow scarf.....but not for long! In those days Argyle House, I recall, was often referred to as Hanna's, which was the name of the founder, James Hanna. I have a book, "The Swiss Family Robinson", awarded to a pupil, Tys Visser, at Midsummer 1894 It was awarded to him for Shorthand Class B and the plate shows the school to be located in St George's Square. The school motto was "Labor omnia vincit" and James Hanna M.A. was the principal. Regards, Gordon Stott
