Hi Allan, Unfortunately the account of Sunderland's wartime evacuation makes no mention of Argyle House School, so I don't know if they were evacuated. The east side of St. George's Square was bombed in May 1943, and six houses were completely destroyed Nos. 6 to 11, 11 being the original address of the Hanna School. West Park Central School which was at the north end of St. George's Square, and faced onto West Park was also badly damaged. 18 people were killed and two bodies were never recovered.
