Hello listers! Hoping that someone out there may know the answer to this little poser! I am trying to trace back down my paternal line, the Roxbys (also the Hillams). I have found what I assume was my grt grt grandfathers birth in the Family Search records. It says that he was christened in 1823 in Houghton-le-Spring and that his mother was Jane Roxby. There is no mention of the father! Could this be that whoever input the records just didn't know? - Or was he illegitimate? If anyone out there can help that would be great! Frances Proud (nee Roxby)
