I have been tracing the REED'S for ages and today tried a different spelling. The 1871 Census shows the RUD family and sure enough there is my family. William REED 's occupation is listed as INSTRUCTOR OF VOLUNTEERS. Reed was in the Army in the South of England and this census shows him Walker.
