Hello Bev, I am replying to your mail on list because SKS may be able to help us on this one. A reply I had from Sunderland Local Studies said: "We would have copied the 1851 census for Exhibition Terrace but it does not appear in our street index to the census nor can we find it in the street directories. We think Hillfield must be Millfield, which is a district of Sunderland and does appear on the census." However, the birth certificate I have clearly shows Hillfield so, like you, I cannot find it! Hopefully, someone else may have come across it and can help us.
