Many thanks for your reply, Stan. In that case, I wonder what circumstances allowed a couple to marry without supplying the required information for Banns to be called? None of the sources I've seen mention this being a marriage by Licence. Did marriage by Licence apply at that time, and would the actual Parish Register show that? I'm working my way through the register copies on LDS Search Labs site, but the Monkwearmouth ones don't go back far enough to cover this marriage. Mary O
