Hi David, There is a chapter on The Salvation Army, Roker Avenue, Corps No.2, in "More Monkwearmouth Memories, Book No. 3" published by Monkwearmouth Local History Group. Which Union Congregational Church do you mean? It looks as though Wearside Historic Church Group is defunct, as their last publication appears to have been in 1986. Also I have been looking, particularly to find a research project on the alvation Army in Sunderland written by Isobel Horsburgh and referred to by eoff Milburn and Stuart Miller in Sunderland, River, Town and People, p122 ote 40. Maybe this didn't reach publication? Wearside Historic Churches Group is no more. I worked for them 1985/86 as a photographer and I was led to believe that whatever material they had collated was handed over to Tyne & Wear Archives. The person who set up Living History Northeast (based in the Donnison School in Sunderland's East End) was there at the same time as myself and she can still be contacted through Living History Northeast. Regards David Allan.
