Hi , Many thanks to every one who emailed about my query with regards to Commercial House & Ferryboat Landing ,also a big thanks to Stan Mapstone for a site he sent which had a photograph .Before dropping of to sleep last night it came to me that I had known about this building (not the name ) from childhood I think it was my father who said as we were going to my grand mothers (on my mothers side who lived in Silver St )as we passed the place where Ferryboat Landing was that his grand mother had lived there ,he must have know her as he was born 1900 and she died in 1911 As he also said once that his grand father came from the Shetlands other wise I would not have known this We have these things in our memories but forget until something brings them back Why when young did we not ask questions of our parents about family ,but we were not to know we would one day do family tree`s For years I had been looking for my fathers younger brother ,but did not have any luck with regards finding him I found a birth certificate (a small one, brown with age )so bought a large one to find out who this persons parents were Until the 1911 census came out and he was not with the family (he would have been about 4 ) so thought did he die, he did as a baby ,so now understand why my father never spoke about him You are all amazing people who will try to help other`s ,again many thanks from this old lady ,who`s memory sometimes lets her down .
