    3. The first meeting of the Committee was held on Thursday June 21st 1883, in the Police Court East Cross Street. The chair was occupied by the Mayor, John Wright Wayman, the following were present; Ald Storey M.P., W. Wilson (Ex-mayor), James Laing, Rev. W.A. Walton, Rev. R. Waters, Rev. Canon Burnett, Rev. J.H. Hancock, Rev. Canon Scott-Moncrieff, Rev Father Turnerell Rev. H. Martin, Rev. Doctor Lyth. Councillors; R. Cameron, R. Shadforth, Lawson, M. Douglass, Hanson, Errington, Fairlees, Dr. Smith, T. Smith, G. Douglass, R. Richards, W.H. Dixon, J. Coates, Dr. Harris, Dr. J.W. Beattie, Dr. Lambert, Dr. W.B. Ferguson, Dr. Morgan, Dr. Bolton, Dr. Waterston, Capt. Pinkey, Messrs. Mark Harmon, J.R. Pattison, J.C. Moor, T.W. Backhouse, Horner, jun., T. Rutherford, W. Birch, R. Singleton, W. Tone, D.J. Pinkney. Councillors Dix and Horner, and Mr. J. W.
