In 1948 The ambulance office was situated temporarily in the grounds of the General Hospital, Chester Road. The staff consisted of an Ambulance Officer, twenty one drivers/attendants, with nine ambulances and three sitting cars. I'm wondering what role the St. Johns Ambulance Association may have played in the early days; certainly they were involved with patient care and transport during the First World War. Maybe a lister may have more about the local branches of the Association and Brigade they can share.
